Contest issues on sale!
January 24, 2012
All of our past contest issues are now on sale - only $4.50 each! If you're thinking of submitting to this year's contest and want to check out an issue--or simply want some good reading!--this is the perfect opportunity.
The BLR contest began in 2006, with each spring issue featuring the winners of that year's prizes. Winners have been selected by such esteemed judges as Rafael Campo, Amy Hempel, Rick Moody, Abraham Verghese, Rosellen Brown, Tony Hoagland, Phillip Lopate, and Naomi Shihab Nye.
You can read selections from these issues in our archive, and can also find complete author lists through our online store. (Scroll down in the issue list to the contest issues at the bottom.)
The BLR is also an excellent teaching tool for instructors of literature and creative writing, for healthcare professionals, and for general reading groups and individuals looking for deeper ethical, social, and literary readings of the experience of illness. We hope you'll consider using one or more of these issues in your class or reading group. Feel free to contact us with any questions.
