2018 Contest Judges


Geraldine Brooks is the author of four novels, the Pulitzer Prize–winning March and the international bestsellers Caleb’s Crossing, People of the Book, and Year of Wonders. She has also written the acclaimed nonfiction works Nine Parts of Desire, Foreign Correspondence and The Idea of Home: Boyer Lectures 2011.

Rivka Galchen is an award-winning fiction writer and essayist who writes regularly for The New Yorker, Harper's and The New York Times. She is the author of Atmospheric Disturbances (a novel), American Innovations (a short story collection) and Little Labors (a miscellany on mothers.)

Rachel Hadas is the author of over a dozen books of poetry, essays, and translations; her most recent collections are TALKING TO THE DEAD (prose pieces) and QUESTIONS IN THE VESTIBULE (poetry). She is currently at work on verse translations of Euripides' two Iphigenia plays. The recipient of awards including a Guggenheim Fellowship and the O.B. Hardison Award, she is Board of Governors Professor of English at Rutgers University-Newark.
